Norsk Folkemuseum, Oslo, Norway
I've been to that museum I don't know how many times over the years and walked past that dress everytime. It's kept in a almost totally dark display box. I've never seen anything in there. Information about the dress is nonexistent.
The skirt is attached to the bodice. The skirt is pleated in the traditional manner. There seems to be a waistband at the top of the skirt, possibly an added protection against the belt. The bodice is made of navy blue wool, vadmel probably. The decoration consists of woven bands in a fairly common pattern. Color combination of white and red with a touch of green and blue .
The pleating technique is called fedding and is known back as least as far as the viking era.
